Jai began practicing yoga as a freshman in college in 2015 to help manage the pressures of school. Having a consistent practice helped Jai build a disciplined routine, relieve chronic stress patterns, and create mental clarity.
Jai is a firm believer that people of color can benefit greatly from the practice of yoga, but she rarely got the chance to learn from teachers who looked like her. When she moved to Texas in 2020, she was often the only person of color in her classes. She completed a 200-hr yoga teacher training at Black Swan Yoga in Austin, TX and moved back to metro Detroit a year later.
Jai is committed to contributing to the strong community of teachers of color that help bring representation in yoga to the city of Detroit. Her favorite style to practice is Vinyasa, but her favorite style to teach is Yin.
Jai’s classes always include a thoughtful playlist and are designed for restoration and mindfulness
