“If you can breathe, you can do yoga”! Since 2012, Yoganic Flow has shared this mantra and its yoga practice by offering weekly classes at several recreational centers and public outdoor spaces scattered throughout neighborhoods in the city. We offer yoga as a holistic mind body practice aimed at healing the physical and mental wellbeing of our community.
Detroit has one of the highest poverty and crime rates in the United States. As a result, our underserved communities are under constant stress which manifest in pervasive chronic health issues negatively impacting our citizens. Studies have shown that yoga has a positive impact on reducing many stress-related ailments.
If you’re interested in contributing to Detroit’s healing we invite you to join our team and we offer several ways to contribute towards that effort:
Yoga House Detroit: Assist with cleaning, weeding, gardening, distributing flyers in the neighborhood and more. There are a number of ways you can contribute to the blighted space we are working to beautify.
Street Team: Distribute flyers and information throughout city neighborhoods, targeting those neighborhoods where we offer classes. You’ll also disseminate information at community yoga events.
Student Support: Assist with sign-in, registration and waiver forms and welcome students to class.
Administrative Assistance: Assist with administrative support. This may include, but not limited to, filing, typing, reproducing forms, social media blasts and updating our database.
Set-Up & Clean-Up: Assist at Yoganic Flow community events by setting up tables, décor, merchandise – sale and distribution and clean up.
