Anita is a lifelong yoga practitioner and has been teaching yoga since 2012. Her practice is inspired by her grandmother’s and continues to grow with each day. Anita completed her 200-RYT Yoga Teacher Training with UpDog Yoga in Fall 2011. From then on, she taught yoga at the Wayne State Recreation & Fitness Center until she graduated from Wayne State University. During this time, she also volunteered with the Danialle Karmanos’ Work It Out program teaching yoga and nutrition in Detroit Public Schools. Throughout her 8-year yoga career, Anita has lead Yoganic Flow community yoga classes throughout the city of Detroit in community centers and public parks.
Anita believes in the healing power of the breath to bring clarity, compassion, and purpose to every person’s life, and she seeks to share with her students the transformative effect of taking time to take care of body, mind, and spirit. Anita believes: “Together, we create a community of intention and awareness, both on and off our mats.” Off the mat, Anita is studying Integrative Medicine at the University of Michigan and teaching her fellow medical school students about: Studying Anatomy on a Yoga Mat.
